8.6 million euro renovations will start at Tallink City Hotel

Renovation of the Tallink City Hotel in the heart of Tallinn includes all the hotel rooms, the lobby, the restaurant, the conference centre and the common areas. The owner of the hotel building Vara HTG, owned in equal parts by Infortar and Kapitel, is investing 8.6 million euros in the renovation project and the construction works will be handled by Merko. The hotel operator Tallink Hotels will be able open the renovated hotel for guests in June 2021.

 Tallink City Hotel, located on Laikmaa Street in the heart of Tallinn, was opened in the spring of 2004, when the former services building was rebuilt, becoming the second largest hotel in Estonia at that time. The interior architect of the new renovation project is Meelis Press and in the course of the renovation of the 10-storey building, all 332 hotel rooms, the lobby, restaurant, conference centre and common areas will be renovated.

“A very important part of managing our real estate portfolio is the continuous development of products and services for projects in order to ensure their competitiveness in the market. We have been planning the renovation of Tallink City Hotel for a long time and it is commercially reasonable to use the current tourism sector slump to carry out renovation works,” said Rait Pallo, Member of the Management Board of Kapitel and Vara HTG.

“I am glad that the owners of the building are making reasonable use of the slump in tourism caused by the pandemic to carry out a complete refurbishment of the building. This way we will be able to receive guests at the beginning of next summer in a renovated and even more comfortable hotel. We are also very pleased that we were able to donate almost all the furniture and furnishings of the hotel and help many social and welfare institutions in Estonia in these difficult times,” said Ave Svarts, Member of the Management Board of Tallink Hotels.
